Zooming Out 📈 (Can Increase Love-Capacity)

In relatefulness, we often "zoom in" to micro-moments. We pick a tiny slice of time and explore what it’s made of in all its subtlety. Let's also practice "zooming out".

Sometimes people think "zooming out" will lead to more aloofness, spiritual bypass, or inaction in the face of suffering. But I think the temptation to disengage is a function of projecting primordial guilt, which limits our self-identity and capacity to be present beyond ourselves. Zooming out can actually widen our identity, increasing our capacity to be present with the vast all.

You can try it now: What's something happening in your current experience, and how does it change as you zoom out to see it from outer space? What about when you zoom out and see it over the course of a thousand, a million, a billion years?

With love, Jordan
